Response to IUPUI Community – Training Feedback Forms

Introduction: During September and October 2014, HRA Organizational Development and Training surveyed members of the IUPUI community to gain an understanding of the training needs on campus. Specifically, the feedback form addressed short-term needs, long-term needs and the delivery method.

The most predominant themes from the surveys collected are represented below:

  • Compliance courses (short-term)
  • Stand-alone courses (short-term and long term)
  • Programs consisting of multiple, progressive courses: Professional Development Series, Supervisor Essentials Series, Administrative Professionals Series and Career Advancement/Progression Series (long-term)
  • Primarily in-person courses with some blended learning options

Short-term priority items are outlined below:

  • Legal Compliance Series offered at IUPUI
    • Structure: Two, four hour courses which include: FLSA, I-9, Worker's Compensation, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and Sexual Harassment. Certificate available upon request.
    • Intended audience: Supervisors and HR practitioners
  • Offer multiple stand-alone training opportunities for Spring Semester (when available, courses will be listed in SignUp HR)
    • Structure: Individual courses designed to address a certain content area/competency
    • Intended audience: Will be included in each course description

Long-term priority items are outlined below:

  • Continue to offer stand-alone programming
    *Structure and intended audience same as above
  • Professional Development Series for Individual Contributors
    • Structure: Multiple courses over a span of multiple months, certificate available upon completion
    • Intended audience: Individuals who serve as individual contributors
  • Supervisor Essentials Series
    • Structure: Multiple courses over a span of multiple months, certificate available upon completion
    • Intended audience: Individuals who serve as a supervisor for others on campus
  • Administrative Professionals Series
    • Structure: Multiple courses over a span of multiple months, certificate available upon completion
    • Intended audience: Individuals who serve as an administrative professional
  • Career Progression series
    • Structure: Multiple courses designed to target areas of career development
    • Intended audience: Individuals interested in career transition or progression

*This plan will be reviewed continually and adjusted as needed to stay in line with business directives or professional growth needs of our campus.

**These learning opportunities are in addition to the Organizational Development services offered through IUPUI HRA OD and Training.
